Eat Every Meal Like Its Your Last – Or You Could Die A Lot Sooner says a Lithuanian research study. Lina Radzeviciene, MD, PhD,eat-too-fast an endocrinologist and the lead author of the study, asked subjects to fill out a questionnaire about how quickly they ate compared with those around them (their choices were faster, the same and slower). And what they discovered is that participants who said that they ate “faster” were 2.5 times as likely to have type 2 diabetes as those who said that they ate “slower.”

But why are fast eaters more likely to get Type 2 Diabetes? There are two potential reasons—and they both are related to overeating, which is easy to do when you eat fast, because it takes your body about 20 minutes to register fullness. Overeating signals the pancreas to produce more insulin, and an overproduction of insulin can lead to type 2 diabetes, said Dr. Radzeviciene. And if you’re overeating, there’s a good chance you could also become obese.

Of course this is only the beginning. By eating too fast you automatically are subject to digestion problems, gas, bloating, insomnia and a compromised immune system.

What’s the solution? Eat slower right? But this is easier said than done, when you’re in a hurry or you’ve been programmed your whole life to get the food before its gone.

To eat slow simply imagine this is your last meal, time is ending, this is your last day on earth.  If it’s your last day on earth and it’s your last meal you probably won’t wolf it down. Instead you would probably go extremely slow and taste every morsel. You wouldn’t take another bite until your previous bite was  completely chewed, savored and absorbed.

And realistically none of us know when our time is gonna come. We could be walking down the street one minute and the next get killed by that out of control car driven by the guy who just had a stroke. So eat every meal like its your last and you’ll not only live longer, but you’ll absorb more nutrients and appreciate food on a whole new level.
