One the quickest possible ways to feel confident is to simply move your body, which instantaneously sets off a cascade of feel-good chemicals and makes you feel on top of the world right after you summit a mountain, ride a bike or surf a wave. If you have any doubts about that I recommend reading the 3 part series Building Self Confidence with The Magic Of Motion creating confidence.
But not all movements are equal or will give you the biggest boost in confidence. So what is the best way to move your body and get all of the benefits of HGH and Testosterone while lowering your Cortisol?
One of the best ways to do this is through a High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) program, which “Burns Fat” quicker than any other exercise available. Unsurprisingly, today HIIT is creating an unprecedented revolution in the way exercise has been performed over the last 50 years and there’s good reason.
In a nutshell, HIIT allows you to work out for less time and achieve significant results in a shorter period of time than traditional methods like jogging, aerobics and many other forms of exercise. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that it burns fat more quickly and efficiently than jogging, aerobics or weight training.
HIIT is considered to be much more effective than normal cardio because it alternates the activation of your aerobic and anaerobic endurance systems to multiply the benefits.
And while I recommend HIIT for everyone, just a word of caution here: there are several ways to perform a HIIT routine depending on your age and personal circumstances.
Since describing a full program is out of the scope of this article I’ll explain one of the more common methods you can try which is called a “Peak 8.”
To perform a Peak 8 you’ll need to exercise for roughly 30 seconds at full speed while pushing to 90% of your maximum heart rate (MHR). After this intense burst, you’ll recuperate by slowing down for 30 to 90 seconds at roughly 60% of your MHR. By repeating this cycle of speeding up and slowing down for a total of 8 times, you’ll have spent roughly 15 – 20 minutes. While this may be grossly oversimplified, the benefits of engaging both your aerobic and anaerobic systems will at this point have burned a good chunk of fat while increasing free testosterone and nitric oxide.
Again, this is just one way to do a HIIT program and only accounts for a fraction of the benefits of exercise. For example, if you’re just starting out you may have heard about programs like P90X which pushes people to collapse and perhaps even vomit. These programs typically do not have a high stick rate and most end up quitting shortly after getting results. The problem, as you might have guessed is that most HIIT programs are unnecessarily long (you don’t need more than 20 minutes) and can set you up for injury or they are focused on high-impact exercises like jumping and sprinting, which can also set you up for injury.
To address this and enable you to learn how to gain more confidence with the full magic of motion, I’ve created an in-depth video program called “Get Fired Up.” This program was created with a library of videos that offer both low, medium and high impact exercises, which build more strength, stamina, confidence, energy, and youthfulness through HIIT, Strength Training, and Yoga, regardless of your age, strength or other circumstances. The synergy of these three forms of movement together, turns out to deliver the perfect ratio of high Testosterone and HGH while lowering your Cortisol; all hallmarks of confident leaders.
