Whether you’re trying to beat a virus, lose weight, gain weight, get rid of cancer, look more attractive or solve an issue like leaky gut, if you don’t address your diet it doesn’t matter how much you exercise, where you come from or what your genetics are.
We eat every day, multiple times per day and as that old tired rephrase goes “you truly are what you eat.” As such, your diet represents the front line of both your defense and offense. You must have the right diet to improve immunity.
This is absolutely critical and according to Doctors like Phil McGuff, your diet actually accounts for about 80 percent of the health benefits derived from a healthy lifestyle, with the remaining 20 percent coming from exercise. Says McGuff:
“The standard American diet is highly inflammatory. It produces systemic inflammation of an order that is almost beyond belief. In that state, if you do exercise of any significant stress, you’re just adding inflammation on top of the inflammation, and you’re actually putting yourself at a bit of a risk. I advise people to get their diet straight and then exercise. Because I think a highly inflammatory diet, in combination with the acute systemic inflammation that occurs as a part of the exercise stimulus, can actually be a negative thing.”
Further advice from Michael Mathews, best selling author of “Bigger Leaner Stronger” adds further credence to this statement by proclaiming:
“Eat wrong, and you will stay fat no matter how much cardio you do. Eat wrong, and you stay skinny and weak no matter how much you struggle with weights. Eat right, however, and you can unlock the maximum potential gains from working out.”
If you’re not already hip to this, according to multiple studies, excessive inflammation is the leading cause of most major diseases including atherosclerosis, arthritis, psoriasis, gout, asthma, allergies and multiple sclerosis, amongst others.[i] [ii]
The Power Is In The Food
Fortunately, The Power Diet is derived from some of the top nutritionists, doctors and scientists in the world and backed by real scientific studies. The basic premise originates from the famous credo of Hippocrates who lived in ancient Greece almost 2,500 years ago and encourage us to:
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”
Traditionally regarded as the father of medicine, Hippocrates’ revelations about health are used worldwide to this day by doctors and health professionals and it’s no wonder why.
Essentially, if you eat the right foods (power foods) this food will function as powerful medicine to heal just about any ailment you can imagine. And if you eat the wrong foods (power drains) this food will function as powerful poison, which can make you sick and kill you.
Specifically, power foods boost your mental and physical power with super powered microbes, enhanced detoxification and reduced inflammation, while power draining foods increase toxins, set your body on fire and kill off all your good microbes. By adding power foods and removing the power drains you’ll be much closer to ditching those doctors and the diseases that plague most of humanity.
And while there are several variables that can boost or drain your power, one key element we’ll be focusing on is the power of your microbiome – the collective genomes of microbes (bacteria, bacteriophage, fungi, protozoa and viruses) that live within and on your body. This is crucial since your gut wall houses 70% of the cells that make up your immune system.[iii]
As New York Times best-selling author and Medical Director of The UltraWellness Center, Dr. Mark Hyman, says:
“You might not attribute digestive problems with allergies, arthritis, autoimmune diseases (irritable bowel syndrome, acne, chronic fatigue), mood disorders, autism, dementia and cancer. Many diseases seemingly unrelated are actually caused by gut problems. If you want to fix your health, start with your gut. Gut health literally affects your entire body.”
Fortunately, The Power Diet will show you how to rebuild and balance your microbiome in a flexible and sustainable manner by dividing foods into three simple groups as follows:
